Law and Organizing Academy

The Law and Organizing Academy (LOA) is a core offering within The Action Lab’s Learning and Leadership initiative, designed to support a new generation of movement-aligned legal practitioners. Developed in partnership with NYU Law’s Initiative for Community Power, LOA brings together law students, early-career lawyers, organizers, and educators to explore how legal strategies can strengthen, rather than constrain, community-led change. Through cohort-based sessions, mentorship, and engagement with active campaigns, participants deepen their understanding of the relationship between law, power, and organizing. Law and Organizing Academy reflects The Action Lab’s broader approach to leadership development: equipping people with the tools, analysis, and relationships needed to move from theory to practice and to advance long-term, transformative change.
