I am a psychologist whose work lives in the intersecting spaces of forced migration, trauma, and healing, all informed by my experiences as a clinician, educator and researcher. Since 1999 I have cared for forced migrants, as well as survivors of torture, armed conflict, and human rights abuses from around the world at the Bellevue Program for Survivors of Torture. I am a professor at the City College of New York. My work has included developing and examining mental health interventions in Low Income Countries. I also conduct forensic evaluations, human rights consultations, and frequently works with attorneys handling cases involving torture, trauma and maltreatment.
