Radhika Subramaniam is Associate Professor of Visual Culture at Parsons. She was the first Curator of the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at The New School from 2009-2017. She was also the Director of Cultural Programs at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Recent honors include: Graduate Institute for Design, Ethnography and Social Thought Faculty Fellowship, Mellon Sawyer Seminar in Imaginative Mobilities Faculty Fellowship, and Culture & Animals Foundation Research Grant. Her curatorial projects have included Art in Odd Places: Number (2013) and Sign (2009, with Erin Donnelly), Abecedarium for Our Times (Apexart, 2008), and Cities, Art and Recovery (LMCC, 2005–2006). She is working on an experimental narrative nonfiction titled The Elephant’s I. She received her M.S. in Anthropology and a PhD in Performance Studies.
