Melissa Friedling is an Assistant Professor of Filmmaking for The School of Media Studio at The New School in New York City. She has been a fellow at Yaddo and is recipient of a Fulbright Award. Her creative work has appeared at PS1 MoMA (NY, NY) Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center (Buffalo, NY), The Athens Institute for Contemporary Art (Athens, GA), and Apex Art (NY, NY). In 2006, she founded the web video production company, Slouch Productions. Her essays on arts, film, and culture have been published in Flash Art International, Afterimage, and in the book, Recovering Women: Rhetoric, Feminisms, and Addiction. She has also taught at The Pratt Institute, Hunter College, and Syracuse University. She received her PhD in Rhetorical Studies from the University of Iowa.
