Laura Y. Liu is Associate Professor of Global Studies and Geography at The New School where she is a scholar of space, identity, politics, and power. Her research focuses on community and labor organizing; migration and urban development; and the interplay of politics with art and design. She has published work in Women’s Studies Quarterly; Urban Geography; Gender, Place, and Culture; and Social and Cultural Geography. As part of the collaborative Multiple Mobilities Research Cluster, her photographic/essay work has appeared in Anthropology Now and has been exhibited at ar/ge kunst in Bolzano, Italy. She is an inaugural member of the Ann Snitow Prize Organizing Committee and serves on several advisory boards. Liu received a PhD and MA in Geography from Rutgers and a BA in Architecture from UC Berkeley.
