Founder of CannaBronx

she/her

Kavita Pawria-Sanchez is a mother, life-long activist and has worked across many intersections of justice as a community organizer, attorney, and policymaker. Kavita cut her teeth in the movement at DRUM (Desis Rising Up & Moving), dedicated 10 years to immigrant issues within city government and most recently started a consulting practice with her partner, Siddhartha, that envisions and brings bold, justice-centered ideas to life. Currently, Kavita is founding an organization called CannaBronx to ensure reparations for Black & Brown communities harmed by the war on drugs, based on the State’s recent legalization of cannabis. Kavita lives in Brooklyn, is deeply enamored by her 9 year old daughter Sahira, often escapes upstate, and aspires to meditate more, run, sing and start a legal, craft marijuana farm with Siddhartha.
