The Action Lab welcomes Joo-Hyun Kang

We are thrilled that Joo-Hyun Kang is  joining The Action Lab in October as the Director of our Innovation and Justice Initiatives. 

Joo-Hyun is a long-time organizer, trainer and strategist.  She was the director of Communities United for Police Reform (CPR) for a decade, where she worked with over 200 local, state and national organizations to fight abusive policing and reduce the illegitimate power, scope and size of the largest police department in the U.S.. Prior to CPR, Joo-Hyun spent time as director of programs and global grantmaking at the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice,  was the first executive director of The Audre Lorde Project – the nation’s first organizing center for trans, nonbinary and queer communities of color and served on numerous boards of community organizations. Also, as a trained acupuncturist, Joo-Hyun believes in needles and healthcare for all.
